I just thought I would give a short review on some of the doors dvds for anyone who was interested or wanting to get started:

Dance on fire

This is a definitve collection of doors videos and live performance scenes on one dvd or VHS. Released in 1985 and features a video made by Ray Manzarek for LA Woman. A must have for any doors fan. It Is available on dvd as part of a doors collection and in 1997 The best of doors was released as well with additional live and rare footage including the doors backstage, in their hotel room circa 1967 and a tour around the shooting of the album cover of their fifth album Morrison hotel.

The doors live at hollywood Bowl

In june of '68 the doors got some film school buddies of jim and ray to film this performance. Not sure if it is the full performance but one of the only filmed on video. This includes songs from the first 2 albums pre-waiting for the sun as it was being released at the time. The band are in fairly good form. Highlights include the end and light my fire, also evident is Molrrison's ad-libs and humour.

The soft parade

This is the PBS interview and performance done by the doors in May 1969 post-Miami and show Morrison in one of his most thoughtful interviews at the time and would become one of the last filmed of the doors in action as performers as at the time live concerts were very rare. It's nice to see songs off the soft parade being performed wthout strings and horns as they were recording the album at the time. Highlights include: build me a woman and the soft parade.

No one gets out alive

A one hour doco released in 1981 where the doors tell their own story with input from jerry Hopkins and danny sugerman who both wrote the best selling bio the year before. Full of good stories and a good way to learn about the doors as maybe a companion to the book.

The doors movie

Oliver stones bio pic of 1991 where Morrison is potrayed byVal Kilmar and starring Meg Ryan as well as some well known cast, this is a controversal look at the sex, drugs and rock and roll aspect of Morrison and the late sixties. Interesting to see Kilmar's potrayal but has caused controversy among doors associates and fans but keeps you interested through beginning to end.

A feast of friends

Not sure if this is on dvd but a 40 minute doors doc made by Morrison and his at school buddes in which the end from the hollywood bowl is included as well as some backstage and tour scenes.

The doors in europe

An hour long film about the european trip in 1968 featuring some great commentary from grace slick and paul kantnor from the Jefferson Airplane. Great live footage which can also also be seen on the doors are open video.

These are just a few from what are offical doors dvd/video releases.
