I was just watching the news here, and there was a story on about that little 7 year old girl who disappeared on her way home from school in Florida on Monday. Her body was found in a landfill in Georgia on Wednesday evening. A horrible thing.

What I don't get here though.. is why her mother was on the "Early Show" this morning? Her child was murdered.. and found not even 48 hours ago.. and she's on TV? I could understand if the child was still missing of course.. it would make sense then for the mother to use the media to beg whoever has her child to return her unharmed... but after hearing her little girl was brutally murdered... why is she on TV? I can't imagine, as a mother myself, how she can even function.. let alone make a public appearance. I'm not judging this woman.. I just don't get it. Maybe I'm just overreacting. Does this make sense to anyone here?

Maybe I shouldn't watch the news. Sometimes it really makes me nuts.

I had no idea she was being so bizarre as to rush to the media, but there's a school of thought that says everyone grieves in a different way. But, based on the Susan Smith case, if I was a profiler, I'd be taking a hard look at that behavior.

Then you've got the boy in the balloon, whose father is quite obviously addicted to media as well. Big backfire on his scheme.

While rushing to be on tv probably wouldn't be my reaction, the mom may want to get the story out to the rest of the country. The more people who know about her daughter, the bigger the chance that the killers will be found.

A legitimate point about wanting to get the news out to the rest of the country I guess (although the abduction has pretty much been headline news since Monday), but I still don't see how a grieving mother of a murdered 7 year old (whose body was just found) could function at much of any level.. let alone on national TV. It just seems out of the norm for me. And yes, I agree that people definitely do grieve differently and there's no right way or wrong way. Again. not judging.. it just seems odd to me. Even one of her statement's seems odd:

On "The Early Show" Friday, Somer's mother, Diena Thompson, told co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez she has a message for Somer's killer: "I hate him. I hate him. ... He needs the death penalty. And I hope they put him in a cell with someone who absolutely can't stand a child predator and let them have fun with him."

I have some experience with murders in the family as my uncle was murdered in front of his house in 1959. Believe me, that statement is is not uncommon. I distinctly remember those sorts of statements from many in my family.

The first stage of grief is anger, as I recall.

Sorry about your uncle. That must've been very difficult for your family.

Although the statement still strikes me as odd in this time frame of only a few days, perhaps it is a more common reaction than I realize.

Denial, btw.. is the first stage of grief. Anger comes next.

I've always liked Elizabeth Kubler-Ross when it comes to the interpretation of death, grief.

http://changingminds.org/disciplines/chang...ubler_ross.htm#

Shock stage: Initial paralysis at hearing the bad news.

Denial stage: Trying to avoid the inevitable.

Anger stage: Frustrated outpouring of bottled-up emotion.

Bargaining stage: Seeking in vain for a way out.

Depression stage: Final realization of the inevitable.

Testing stage: Seeking realistic solutions.

Acceptance stage: Finally finding the way forward.

A healthy way of dealing with these issues for sure. Certainly sucks if you get stuck too long in one of them however.

Reminds me of people talking about the FtHood case. Here in Texas.

Saying of a child in a coffin. Their child.

What point do they care???

You know, it would be nice if you wouldn't come over here when you're drunk and stupid - none of your posts make any sense, or hardly any sense, and are very boring to read, just like it's very boring to listen to someone blather on when they're drunk.

You could probably reproduce the first paragraph and post it after every post you've made in your incapacitated state.

Interesting, in a 'in vino veritas' sort of way, that you admit to living in Texas, even though your location is given as California.

Anyway, that's it.

Another little interesting tidbit I noticed in one of the posts he uses "prolly" I've never seen American posters use the phrase only denizens of the U.K. I would suspect someone but the M.O. isn't the same. But, whomever it be they ain't who they claim to be, I don't think. dry.gif

Good catch!!!

I use a very static MO and include forensic signatures in there just so lil Sherlock Holmes can catch what I am *really* doing.

Maybe if you put on your little nazi hat you can really get me with an "ah ha!"

See, while my poor ole mo remains static... I just have to leave a forensic signature.

To say, "I am me!"

Oh wait.

Someone who doesn't know jack shit about forensics wouldn't have the slightest clue as to WTF I am talking about,
huh.

So, why throw around terms like MO? Do they want to be detectives? Or spies? Or rock stars?

Instead of their sad little selves?

Hrrm. Hrrm.

^^^ lotsa MO and signatures above.

And my mommy's parents live in Tyler Texas.

deleted nasty reply -- I am just pissed off that this website, one of the few decent doors
one's out there doesn't have good content.

Sacha
Reason why it's decent here is because post people who post have:

- A job
- A brain

Any most of the time, because we have a life, were a little too busy to write “good content” if you want action I suggest you go to the LL.

I may regret asking this, but what it is that you would consider "good content"?

One of my friends who was born in Connecticut and now lives here also uses it. But it's certainly more common in the UK.
Sacha
We use "prolly" in canada lol! smile.gif

We do.
jym
Exceptions noted. I had only seen prolly used by Brits.
