Found this while looking for something else entirely! I detect a distinct Hieronymus Bosch influence in the invite!

At this link. A great blog on the early music clubs in South Central L.A.

I wonder what was in it? wink.gif Burbling in the swimming pool sounds good as well, and the location of the party is beautiful.

Encuentro
I wonder if it was a cause that they genuinely believed in or if it was just another gig for them.

Great find Mewsical!

Wonder if there are any photos of them there? Probably rotting away in someone's basement!

Haaaa *nails on chalk board* don't say that, that would truly be a pity. I'm sure some folks took a few pictures.

(Possible scenario) If the organizers were a few years older than the boys they would almost be 70 today...when you think about it there's alot of stuff out there that we've never seen and we probably never will

Wow great find! It definitely looks Boschesque but I don't recognize it as one of his works, can anyone translate the heading? all I can make out is "I'm Young". Hope John can share some memories about this long lost gig.

That looks like a Pieter Brugel painting. Similar styles though. No wonder I like both of them. wink.gif

The Wedding Dance by Pieter Bruegel The Elder! Good catch! In many reproductions of this particular painting, the codpieces men wore in those days have been eliminated. In this one, they haven't.

Lots more of his work at this link. http://www.boschbruegel.com/gallerybru.html

As far as the script over the ad for the party, I think it might be in Flemish from the same period as the painting, i.e. 1566. What's 'gewefen'?

MistyJm
I love Bruegel but especially love Jeroen Bosch.

The script from the ad the first part is German. I stayed young. But I can't make out the 2nd part.

Nice find Mews. Don't remember seeing this before.

I think the second part is "unnd alt morte, und." Really hard to decipher the script.

You know... that sound has never bothered me, but the strangely enough, the sound of tissues being pulled out of a box, gives me that reaction. LOL I got goose bumps just thinking about it!

They aren't actually cracking bones, it's little pockets of air in their joints that you're hearing.

yeah I know, just like double jointed doesn't actually mean double joints... mind you my hip gives a real thud sound, unlike my other bones! Quite a horrible sound really. I'm a freak! lol

I used to have what they call a 'football knee.' Made a sound like a rifle-shot. For some reason, it doesn't happen any more.
