I recall a quote where Jim said about the band's insturments " I never go near them." I also recall reading where Bob Neuwirth offered to teach Jim how to play guitar and he wasn't interested saying " it would take too long."

I seriously doubt Jim ever owned a guitar.

I guess you had to be there. In tHE 60'S it was not about ownership it was about playing around and exchange, Jim said alot of things of the cuff just to fuck with peoples head. Jim may have consitered the Gibson an old clunker but one things for certain the old clunker sounds great.

I agree with you, knowing both JDM and Neuwirth myself. If Morrison owned a Gibson, he'd be a fool to trade it at that point in time, and he'd know it, or Pam would. laugh.gif Let alone JDM seemed to have no respect for instruments. Look at his devastation of Sunset Sound. I still can't even contemplate selling my gear.

Just so were all clear I mentioned nothing about Jim selling his or Pam's Gibson what i said was i exchanged mine for his plus a bag of Tai and a couple of balls of hash this was the time we lived in and fame was'nt Micheal Jackson style in those days.Although i found Jim to be a somewhat distant
person in some respects, Pam certainly was'nt.You might want to check out the pictures i posted on a link to photo bucket, you will see its not the best model Gibson ever made and maybe the fact that its not electric made it easy to let go or maybe it was the hash.
Peace

Oh, we've checked out the photo, thanks! LOL! And as Jim was not a pot smoker, liking his booze more than pot and hash, who was it who was benefitting from the exchange? Pam? Where exactly were they living at the time?

Btw, it's tie, not Tai or Thai. Tie because it was tied to a stick with thread.

Not to be argumentative in any way but I remember Thai stick. And while it was tied to a stick, it was from Thailand, hence the name Thai Stick. I have tenative plans to go there in the near future for a fishing trip. I'll do some research and get back to you.

From my reading various sources Jim was at one time a pot smoker. It was said he could roll a perfect number. From my reading too, while in Jamaica following the Miami show, he had a bad experience with it and seldom dabbled with it afterwards.

So, it's tie stick from Thailand! I only saw it in London, and was told it was tie stick, i.e. being tied.
Btw, why was ice pack or ice bag so named?

Yes, you gotta watch that Jamaican stuff. That can be very odd.

Tony Funches indicates that Jim was not much of a pot smoker, I don't recall if Lisciandro talked about it in his interview with Steve Wheeler over on the Doors board. That's probably history, since the board restructuring or whatever went on there.

I don't think Jim was identified with pot as much as with booze. My guess is that pot started to make him paranoid - didn't he say somewhere he didn't like pot because it made him think too much, and he felt he thought too much already?
