Full Version: Raw Audio of Morrison
THE OFFICIAL JOHN DENSMORE FORUM > The Doors > General Doors Forum

I found this real interesting audio recording of Jim talking about the Indians bleeding on dawn's highyway episode in his life. It's from the raw audio recording that we've heard on things like An American Prayer (album) but there's so much more & Morrison talks about it pretty candidly & at length. I've never heard it before so I thought I'd turn you guys onto it & see what you think.

It's on one of my Myspace friends site http://www.myspace.com/dctcb it's in the audio player (you have to scroll down a bit) & it's titled The Indian and The Coyote. You may have to look for it a little but I think you'll like it.

This recording was made by Frank Lisciandro, during the weekend of Easter 1969, when the filming of HWY took place.

Moses!
I thought it had to be pretty close to the filming of HWY. Didn't know Frank had done it. I guess he's one of the other voices.

No offense Dan, but you make it sound like you were sitting on the bed at the Joshua Inn, twisting the knobs on the Nagra and holding the mic yourself.

If the recording is anyone's it's Lisciandro's, he made it.
TheDoorsMusic
No offense taken, Mike. It's probably from the scrapbook CD. Actually there's 60 minutes worth and I know he won't have that. dry.gif
Moses Jones
I think that dude from Canada just sold it to him for $800.

Yep, I support this opinion Dan.
It's one thing to take something while not even saying a little thank you ever. It's another to post them on myspace and pretend to have bought them himself.
Not even one note of a little credit or thank you. That's just rude in my opininon.
A lot of these High resolution Doors photo's don't come cheap. And they are bought and shared in passion.
But these actions like this guy on myspace make it hard to enjoy sharing. Or people selling them on Ebay for money I saw that too.
That's just low. sad.gif

How can posting about something I thought the average fan would not of heard get out of hand? I posted the link to Dan's myspace page because I thought it was cool to hear the raw audio that was used by The Doors on American Prayer with Morrison telling of the dead Indians on the highway incident when he was a kid. I thought it was interesting on a couple of points, the most obvious being it displays Morrison's views on death. Instead what has the discusion turned to? Two people claiming proprietary interest in something that's not theirs, with claims of theft when its admitted that the audio clip could also have been obtained from a published CD from the Jim Morrison Scrapbook (if I'm reading that correctly). & Moses is correct in that Frank Lisciandro probably has the copyright on that material and is the only one who can claim ownership of it.

I've been a Doors fan for 30 years now, I'm not a collector I've absorbed a lot of information reading to just about every book that comes out & when I run across something on someone's website. For instance, I find a lot of cool Doors things on Youtube which I include in my newsletter, I always send people to the site where I found the material (as I did in Dan's instance, there was a lot of cool stuff there I thought people would like & maybe Dan would pick up a couple Myspace friends from here.

Nothing to worry about Jym. This is just a normal discussion with people expressing their opinion like you do now too. smile.gif
I don't see anyone claiming ownership. That's not what this is about.
It's about rare stuff let it be photo's or other Doors material that collectors spend lots of money on wich they work hard for and share with members that then take it without saying a little thank you to the person that shared it in the first place. And then post it on websites, myspace or whatever and pretend like they are the ones buying it, worked for, payed for or shared it.
It is not hard to say a little thank you sometimes instead of only take take take.
It would make the Doors community so much friendlier.

That's all I wanted to say really. I'll leave it at that. wink.gif

Sorry if I can't get my opinion across like I want too. It's hard sometimes in different language.

My response wasn't about your comment, sorry if it was interpreted that way.

I try to avoid the controversy about collecting, it seems a little ironic to me. But I'm also getting input on the Myspace end too, when all I wanted to do was share something I thought was & is cool. Maybe I should have chimed in with what I found interesting about it earlier but I thought after people heard it that would be the course of the thread, but threads do seem to have a life of their own!

But if you've found a photo on the net, how do you find out
who has the rights to it? Except for companies like Getty Photo
or others who add a watermark on the photo.

How could I possibly make money off of these posted photos
is what I don't understand. mellow.gif

you put the photo on something stupid like a lighter or a t shirt, and then you sell it on ebay. or you get a rare photo someone posted you print glossy hi-res pics of it & sell those on ebay

cheap cheap

I had the piece of toilet paper that was stuck to Ray's shoe from the MSG 70 ( early show). I sold it off a few years ago, when I was needing cash quick.

After that I kind of lost interest in collecting rare stuff.

What about the afore-mentioned water mark?
