It may be. I got it off of ebay. I was looking in the liner notes and there is a list of other ones like it. There's some about Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones and some others I can't remember.

Just out of interest has anyone got any info on the spoken word version?
Where was it recorded?
How long did it take to record?
Who was involved in it etc?
It certainly is a fantastic way to read a book hearing the author ......it's like being a kid again and getting a bedtime story....cool!!!

Just started to listen to it on disc and its pretty amazing to hear John read the book....he gives it that extra dimension that brings an emotional heart to his words in a similar way Jim's spoken word poetry does to the flat emotionless pages of the poetry books.....looking forward to hearing the rest....
Is this on CD? If so, where can I get it? I can only find the cassette (8 in a set) for $65....I would really love to hear it but don't want to get a bunch of cassettes....any info would be appreciated......

I'm not sure I've ever seen it on cd, just the cassette collection. I have it and recommend it very very highly. Hearing the inflections in John's voice, sometimes the emotion, not to mention the drumming and John singing the lyrics to the songs.. is well worth the hassle of cassettes. Get it! You'll be happy you did.
