From the other board.  It is sad.  Glad I got to see it again (months ago)  for the second time. Before this sad event.

"Hollywood arson fires: Jim Morrison’s ‘Love Street’ home damagedDecember 30, 2011 | 8:40 am

The former home of the Doors' Jim Morrison is among those damaged in a string of early-morning arson fires in Hollywood and West Hollywood on Friday, authorities said.

The fire at 8021 Rothdell Trail in West Hollywood broke out about 1:20 a.m.

Fire crews discovered a Mazda Miata on fire, and the blaze spread to a balcony and the front of the house, officials said.

It took 56 firefighters 35 minutes to put out the fire, which was contained to the front of the three-story home, authorities said.

The house, built in 1922, was famously the inspiration for the Morrison song "Love Street." It was listed last summer at $1.119 million.

Morrison once lived at the home with his girlfriend, Pamela Courson.

Authorities termed firefighters' efforts a "major save" because the house is old and nestled in a hillside area with a high density of brush.

One firefighter was injured in a fall from a ground ladder, officials said. He was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

After a string of 19 arson fires overnight, police are on tactical alert and the Los Angeles Fire Department has doubled the number of arson teams on call. Many of the fires were started in cars or carports, officials said.

They come one day after police arrested Samuel Arrington, 22, of Sunland in connection with three arsons that occurred on a five-block stretch of Sunset Boulevard on Thursday morning."

This was a great piece of a rock n' roll history, you really have to be an asshole to do something like this.

I'm sure he was unaware of the historical significance...just a dumb kid with an arson fetish.
