I listened to this song on Youtube,
I think The Doors got "LA Woman" exactly right. Each song rolls so perfectly into the next, so I think it was a wise decision to leave this track off the album.
Why? The sound seems bad at some points, and though this was likely never mastered properly, that isn't the only thing that makes it sub-standard as far as maintaining the image of The Doors we love. When compared to the rest of the tracks, which have an exceedingly cool, lay back and drive vibe, the lyrics of this song seem somewhat... Dare I say nerdy?
"She smells so nice, she looks so good I gotta sniff her once or twice"
I know many people love that line for its humour and honesty but..
Roll roll roll gotta thrill my soul... the way the LA Woman flows is perfection, as you know!
That doesn't mean it isn't awesome that we get to hear a new track this long after it was recorded!

you need to hear the version on the dvd...she smells so nice/rock me...it's a 10 minute blues jam masterpiece

the interviews are interesting but the song makes it great...
