Hello folks,
I've promise a concert review for the Reza/Densmore show at Le National Theatre in Montréal last june 17. Sorry if I'm late but I was overloaded at my job. But the wait wroth everything. You won't beleive what's happen that night of june 17......:
My dream come true! I've meet John!! Shake his hand twice, sign me 3 autographs!!!! :-) I didn't had backstage pass, but the coolest thing ever is that when I enter the theater I saw a table with postcard of the show and it was writting on the table: "John will signs autograph after the show". Is this cool or what ? I turn to my brother and said: We will meet him..yahoooo!!
The show start with a first part by 2 guitarist who played flaminco. They where really great, they played for about 45 minutes. Then John, Reza, and a woman (Christina) a bass player and a guy who play the keyboard enter the stage! John presented himself in french! He said few words in french all over the show! Didn't know that John know some french! They played for about 1H25 minutes with an encore. The music was one of the best I heard. I really really enjoy it and the small crowd too (about 100 people, with was like seeing John play in you living room, really intimate!). Reza is a very very very talented musician, he play many many instruments. Beautiful voice too, I had a blast. Then the show end, some people went home but many stay to have John autograph. In the meantime, me and my brother went in front of the stage and meet Reza! I shake his hand and tell him: "lovely show, I really like it." and respond with a nice smile and a thanks. He's looking so calm so down to heart. Reza follow us to the bar, other people came to shake his hand, and then I turn my head back and right in front of me, their he his, the man himslef, John Densmore!!!! My brother had the chance to see him before me cause he did also went face to face with John just before me. So John sat on a chair and start to sign autographs. I was in front of him the whole time and when it was my turn I put down the front cover of Reza album(cd) and he sign it and we shake hand (I said thanks John) he respond with a nice warm smile. He sign other autograph and they was only 10 people around him at the end talking peacefully. I put out my ticket and sign it. Then John sign an other auograph and write "doors" under his name. I look at him and said to him" oh you put a doors there, I want that too!!!" He respond, yeah the name doors will always be stick to my front head " and he laught. He sign me a new one with doors writting on it, and I shake hands again, said "thanks again John". He respond with an other nice warm smile. Then John look at the postcard (small poster of the show) and he said: Wow it's all in french, I like that! The lady (who took care of the autograph planning said that she have bigger poster of the same thing and ask if she have to give them to Reza. John said: Hmmm no give it them to me, they are cool! Then he start to read in french and had trouble to read the word "vedette"  and so I proceed and said "vedette"  and John look at me like if I was a french teacher. He repeat after to me and said it correctly. But he immediatly said: "what it's mean? It's not vendetta"  And the lady said "oh no it's just mean featuring."  John laught at it.
Time pass John get up and go pick up his drum on stage. Then I get out and saw Reza at the bar!! I ask him to sign my cd, he did, said thank you very much again for the concert. Just by his eyes look we see that he's very calm and relax, it's look like his eyes smile!! Very cool guy.
Then me and my brother we went out of the theater and took the subway!!!
John stay about 15 minutes there, the best 15 minutes of my life. Thank you so much John, you are so close of your "fans" down to earth, friendly. You make people feel confortable around you.
The greatest thing is that I've recorded the show (sony mini-disc with a stereo mic.) Anyone who wants a copy please feel free to drop me an e-mail (pythibault@crystal-ship.com). I DON'T SELL THE SHOW, ONLY TRADE, I want to share it, not make money. Don't ask to pay me, I won't reply, only trade.
It was the greatest night of my life!
Take care everybody, I'm the most lucky guy in the world!

Cool review Pierre.  Funny John said Doors will always be stuck to his forehead.......because they used to be ETCHED. smile.gif  As the years go by, maybe it's getting a little less deep. smile.gif
