here are a selection of pix from Paris July 1st to 4th.
There was a decent crowd there but little going on around the cemetery this year as La Ren was poor and the new owners not interested.
A decent amount went to the graveside from what I saw and heard.
We had a bloody great time but the heat was oppressive again which made it difficult to drink.
All in all not the best time I have had there but I enjoyed myself.

Tons of photos on facebook......ask and I will give you a link

Looks like you had a good time. I'm sure when I went to see Jim Morrisons grave about 5 years ago, they didn't have all those barriers up. Was i just being completely unobservant?

Barriers went up on the afternoon of December 8th 2003 for the visit of Ray and his mates and have been there ever since as far as I am aware Helen.

Those are very nice pictures. Thank you for sharing them. I love the "Jim Morrison sculpture" in the Louvre. smile.gif I guess you're not a big fan of the Mona Lisa.

Oh yeah! That would be Jim holding the lamb in Miami. However, with this sculpture, he is beardless and holding the animal over his shoulders.

The link my mind made was to do with Picasso. I got the lamb/man sculpture image and the Picasso drawing of it, from a documentary I watched on Picasso. Not long before I watched the documentary, I had been reading the account of the letter that Jim Morrison had sent to Wallace Fowlie

"Dear Wallace Fowlie,
Just wanted to say thanks for doing the Rimbaud translation. I needed it because I don't read French that easily...I am a rock singer and your book travels around with me."

.....followed by a post-scriptum: 'That Picasso drawing on the cover is great"

There was a Picasso/Jim Morrison link made in my mind which made me connect the sculpture and drawing of the man with lamb, with Jim Morrison (and of course being familiar with the Miami lamb and man photo too).

Great photos, Alex.  Thank you so much for sharing them.  I only have 3 photos from 1980.  I can't recall any group of Doors fans back then planning a trip to Paris to meet each other.  If such a thing did exist I didn't know about it.  I would love to meet you guys in Paris someday just as I would like for you to come and visit LA sometime.

My Photos of Jim Morrison's grave from my visit to Pere Lachaise Spring 1980

I should take the negatives and re-print them to see if I can get any better photos out of them.

Good to see Kerry is doing a trip....look forward to seeing a good Yank contingent.

Paris by Segway Tours! That sounds great especially when drunk.....

An alternative to Kerrys tour is join the piss heads on a tour of Corcoranes in the latin Quarter and Bastille and sample zamboucha and various cocktails and lagers before stumbling home through the early morning Paris haze and collapsing into bed. Both good.

I'd love to go to Perle Lachaise and attempt to take some arty black and white photos - may be at dusk
